Port Buzz: Toulon, France full-day excursion on Royal Princess to St. Tropez
I was on one of the first tour groups to board a bus this morning for a full-day excursion to St. Tropez via Royal Princess. Cruise passengers had a lot of options when it came to selecting how to spend their day in port, there were seven tours to choose. I elected to head to St. Tropez for some fun in the sun before debarking the ship tomorrow in Barcelona.
The drive from the port to St. Tropez took us along the coastal route. That means we spent about two hours winding our way through the quant towns surrounding the coast. There was a time that I questioned if such an excursion was a good idea, but as soon as I arrived to resort town and I fell in love.
St. Tropez
I think our guide put it best, “St. Tropez is not a cultural icon, instead it is a way of life.”
Cruise passengers who are looking for a fun day walking around the old fishing town will be happy. I had an amazing time exploring the streets of St. Tropez before the tourists headed out for the day. Our tour guide told us we were extremely lucky because we missed all the traffic and because of that we had extra time to wander.
The old fishing port is now home to luxury yachts and sun worshipers seeking some relaxation by the sea.
Fishing boats in the Old Harbor and the pastel-colored buildings of the Old Quarter house elegant boutiques, galleries and cafes.
