Top Cruise Buzz from the week: social media roundup

This week  I am doing a little something different for the Cruise Biz Buzz update. I decided to showcase some of the articles that I wrote since my last Social Media Cruise News for 9.25.12. These posts below were inspired by social media posts from the cruise lines. In addition, I also include my Port Buzz from visiting Disney Wonder in San Diego.

A+ for Princess Cruises

I was especially excited about Princess Cruises and their outreach online. This cruise line is getting an A+ for effort when it comes to social media and using the net to connect, inform, and inspire.

Princess Cruises making waves online

Princess Cruises making waves online I just had a chance to catch up with Princess Cruises online and discovered that they are doing an exceptional job promoting their brand. I count 9 sites that Princess Cruises is curating to post inspiring content and to engage with cruisers.

Port Buzz: San Diego

Lst week I got a chance to do a ship visit on Disney Wonder when she called on San Diego. In conjunction with the ship visit, I also spent some time visiting places that cruise visitors would like to see.

Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wonder was in San Diego to kick off the 2012-13 cruise season, and I managed to climb onboard to take some photos.

Cruise statistics for the Port of San Diego

It should come as no surprise to those of us on the West Coast that passenger counts are down. In preparation for my Top Attractions for Cruise Visitors in San Diego post, In asked the Port of San Diego to give me an update about passenger numbers, what I discovered is not to good (and partially one of the reasons I had to close my travel agency).

Cruise visitors sailing to or from San Diego will enjoy a city with plenty of pre or post cruise options. The Port of San Diego welcomes cruise ships throughout the year at San Diego’s B Street Cruise Ship Terminal.

New Product: Family-friendly river cruise

Tauck Bridges is an exceptional product for family travelers. This week I learned about one of their new programs: “Bon Voyage: France Family River Cruise” on the Rhône. If I could manage to get onboard, I would in a heartbeat. Cruising with my teenager and 2nd grader would be easy on this cruise.
