Social media in the cruise news

Cruise Buzz – Where social meets travel

During the last couple of months I have participated in a couple of trade events that should get reported before I forget about them.

Social media is a lot like follow-the-leader at this point. Enjoy the journey.

The speaking circuit:

I presented a Twitter 101 – From the Beginning class to a room of eager participants at the Luxury Travel Expo in Las Vegas. I got a lot of the same questions: “how much time do you spend using Twitter?” and “I just want to sell travel, are people converting social media into sales?” The answer…. it depends.

Then just when I thought I could kick back a little, I got asked to sit on a social media panel (again in Vegas). This time, our panel did two back-to-back sessions designed to address best practices and how travel agents can use social media.

I really liked our session and Travel Weekly reporter Johanna Jainchill has done a great job writing about our session and key concepts that emerged during the Travel Weekly’s LeisureWorld 2011 Show and Conference, held in February in Las Vegas. Read her post here.
