Normandy cruise port review

Viking River Cruises D-Day Beaches and War Memorials

This shore excursion is inlcuded with the cruisefare on Viking River Cruises. After breakfast we gathered our listening devices and boarded bussed for a  full-day tour to the historic beaches of Normandy.

Highlights inlcuded:  Gold Beach, Courseulles sur Mer and Juno Beach. The World War II landmarks like Omaha Beach, the American Military Cemetery and Arromanches Debarkment D-Day Museum were informative.

Everyone should visit this area to connect to the past.

Experience history firsthand at the Normandy beaches, site of the famous Allied invasion on D-Day in 1944.

While walking though the D-Day beaches I could not help but hear the voices of the past. A sort of reverence and calm quiet now echos the towns. D-Day.  Destruction.  Victory.  These are a few of the words that struck me when I was touring the Norman coast.

The best way to tour the area:  a river cruise – take a look

River cruissing is a great way to combine the magic of Paris with the beauty of France’s Norman countryside. Viking offers the popular Paris & the Heart of Normandy cruise, which travels from Paris to Paris on the Seine river.
