Port Buzz: Mykonos, Greece
Royal Princess left Istanbul (see recap here) and sailed across the Marmara Sea and Dardanelles strait. We headed towards the southwest through the Aegean Sea bound for Mykonos. There was some cruise buzz on the ship that if the wind kicked-up, the captain would have to continue to our next port of call, which is Naples, Italy. We made it.
Shore Excursion: Delos – Birthplace of Apollo
This was my first visit to the Mykonos. Of the four shore excursions available via Princess Cruises, I elected to head to the island of Delos to learn about the birthplace of Apollo.
The ferry ride to Mykonos’ neighboring island of Delos is a bit bumpy. If you are motion sickness sensitive, then elect one of the other shore excursions that keeps your feet on the ground. After a 25-minute ride, cruise visitors will learn about one of the classical Greek myths regarding the birthplace of Apollo. After exploring the island’s ruins, we headed back to Mykonos Town for some shopping.
