Cruise guests sailing on Paul Gauguin Cruises have an opportunity to spend the day at the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa on itineraries calling on Bora Bora.
Opting to take advantage of a shore excursion to the InterContinental Thalasso gives cruise guests an opportunity to experience activities at this world-class resort. If your bucket list includes a relaxing day of rejuvenation at the spa, make arrangements ahead of time to secure appointments at the The Deep Ocean Spa.

The signature quote from the spa reminds visitors that Euripides said “the sea washes away all the ailment of man.”  If this is true, then The Deep Ocean Spa by Algotherm has plenty of cleansing water available from the  nearby Thalasso source used in their  sea therapies.

What’s unique about this Thalasso spa is that it uses deep ocean water (2952 feet down) from the depths of the underwater trench surrounding Bora Bora’s reefs. The water is exceptional for treatments, spa products and even to drink because of its pure, high mineral content.

Zen inspired relaxation area.

The Intercontinental Bora Bora is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Every reviewer mentions the turquoise water, the swaying palms, the white sand, but one doesn’t realize the utter tranquility of the place until you are there. There is a pervasive silence on Bora Bora that creeps up on you and lulls you into a state of relaxation without realizing you have spontaneously switched gears to island time.

The décor at Deep Ocean Spa Bora Bora is Zen –like modern but not jarring. The colors are natural and soothing with some French influences, but beautifully integrated with a Tahitian theme. The overall look evokes a feeling of an ultra chic, Parisian ex‐pat living in the islands. And the overall feeling of the place is one of privilege and, privacy but not in a stuffy way. There is an overall intent towards spoiling and pampering those lucky enough to be there.

The Thalasso experience at Deep Ocean Spa continues on that theme by soothing and pampering all the senses.

The scenery soothes the eyes and expands the mind promoting a sense of tranquility and well-being. The treatments and services at the spa are top notch. Experiencing a massage in this type of setting is pure magic as only the islands can produce. Treatments are performed in over-water, glass floored bungalows.

The professional and welcoming therapists work over your body with their island magic, reef ‐fish frolic in view underneath you and the warm honey scent of the Tiare flower wafts through the air to lull you into deep reverie. After your treatment, there are also many private relaxation areas overlooking the ocean including steam baths, Jacuzzi, outdoor showers and tranquil flowing waters. There is a beautiful, relaxing lounge, a tea room and a boutique. The boutique carries the Algotherm products that are used at the spa, so continuing the Tahitian experience at home is attainable with scents and smells, products and minerals that only Tahiti can supply.
