I will be reporting live from Porto, Portugal to share news about the inauguration of CrosisEurope’s new ms Miguel Torga.

The MS Miguel Torga cruises on the Douro, a major river of the Iberian Peninsula that crosses northern-central Spain and Portugal to its outlet at Porto. Porto is a coastal city in northwest Portugal known for its bridges and port wine production. Portugal’s second largest city also has many architectural wonders, a UNESCO World Heritage Site (the medieval Ribeira (riverside) district), colorful art, excellent food, and friendly locals.

For those river cruise enthusiasts looking for a unique off-the-beaten-path destination, then CrosisEurope’s ms Miguel Torga is a great option.

The MS Miguel Torga is an innovative, premium class, three-deck ship with a pool, contemporary interior design and 66 cabins that accommodate 132 passengers. Built at the Sambre and Meuse Shipyard in Namur, it will be joining the four other ships on the Douro River. Beginning in April 2017, it will host 8-day cruises on the “Golden River,” leaving from Porto and stopping in Regua, Vega de Terron, Ferradosa and Pinhão.

While exploring Porto, be on the lookout for picturesque squares, unique shops, Romanesque churches, Portugal’s classic Manueline style, and art nouveau cafes.  Dom Luis bridge over the Douro River, Igreja dos Clérigos, Sao Bento station.

Be on the lookout for the Dom Luis bridge over the Douro River, Igreja dos Clérigos, and check out the Sao Bento train station. Head to São Francisco Church, which is known for its baroque interior with ornate gilded carvings. And the palatial 19th-century Palácio de Bolsa is a must see for those touring the city of Porto.

Must know word: ‘azulejo’ – a kind of glazed colored tile traditionally used in Spanish and Portuguese buildings.
