Cruise ship enthusiasts who recall the golden era of luxury liner travel on the Pacific are invited to celebrate the “good old days” on a special Crystal Cruises sailing from Los Angeles to Hawaii and the South Seas!
Participants in “The Polynesian Club” will board the liner Crystal Symphony Feb. 28, 2010 in Los Angeles. After calls at Hilo, Lahaina and Honolulu, Hawaii, the Crystal Cruises “Pacific Passage” voyage will continue on a 5,000 mile, 10-day crossing of the South Pacific, before concluding in Sydney on March 18.
The inaugural gathering of “The Polynesian Club” will be escorted by Duncan O’Brien, award-winning author of The White Ships, a coffee-table book celebrating Matson Lines’ famous passenger ship era. A frequent traveler to Hawaii and Australia as a young boy on Matson’s Monterey and Mariposa in the 1960s, O’Brien’s passion for and knowledge of the early days of American-flag passenger ships on the Pacific is second to none.
