Cruise Planning

When it comes to cruise planning there is nothing more helpful than a handy-dandy list of travel resources. Some of these links to travel resources might come in very handy if you are going on your next great adventure.

How to Pick a Stateroom Cabin

Cruise Ship Dining

Cruise ships offer a variety of dining options. In fact, depending on the size of the ship, there could be more than 20 dining options available like on the supersized mega-ships. Traditionally meals are served in the dining room, but with more ships and consumer demand for variety, don’t be surprised to see buffets, specialty restaurants, room service, coffee bars, beachside BBQs, as well as sushi bars, teppanyaki grills, and, of course, my favorite, dining al fresco on hot rocks.

Our friends at Cruise1st.com.au put together a fun roundup of eateries on the ships. Make sure to read Cruise Enthusiasts Share Their Favourite Onboard Dining Experiences to discover more sumptuous offerings to help plan where to dine on your next cruise.

Packing for your cruise

Each cruise line has its own vibe and in general, the passenger mix will most likely reflect the style of the brand. What that means is that on some ships like Silversea or Crystal Cruises, you won’t see passengers walking around on the open decks in cut off shorts and bikinis at 8:00 at night. However, with that said, since Oceania pioneered the concept of country-club casual most ships sport a more relaxed dress code compared to the old days of cruising when it was black tie and ball gowns every night in the formal dining room.
