Most Popular Places to see in Athens with limited time in port:

    • Acropolis of Athens

A must-see that is also referred to as the  “sacred rock”. Tip if you are going to explore on your own, remember that the Acropolis opens at 8 am. The fastest way there is a taxi or for the more adventurous take the Metro’s Green Line to Omonia station then transfer to the Red Line and get off at the Acropolis.

    • Plaka (neighborhood)

Shoppers will like to browse the street of the  Plaka, Athens’ oldest residential quarter. Besides great architecture, there are souvenir shops and plenty of places to sit and enjoy some wonderful Greek hospitality.

  • Temple of Olympian Zeus (attraction)

Worthy of a visit

  • Acropolis Museum – this is a wonderful place to begin your indoctrination into ancient Greek history. Special tip: check out the view from the patio outside the cafe for a selfie.
  • Check out the Parthenon and make sure to count all the 46 Doric columns
  • Photo shoot at Mount Lycabettus, You can see the whole of Athens from the city’s highest vantage point
