London Calling

Welcome to London

Update: July 2018

This blog post was one of the first ones I did in the Blogger-at-Large series. I went as a guest of Europe Express to learn about pre and post cruise options for travelers visiting London and Paris.

First impressions.

I absolutely love the charm, culture, people, and vibe.

I arrived to London after a night flight from Los Angeles on Virgin Atlantic. While the flight was long, I managed to sleep and watch many new movie releases.

Meeting my driver was a breeze.  Europe Express really has a lot of great resources for making a journey to Europe quick and easy. I am looking forward to using their services for all my Europe bound clients. Cruise guests will really enjoy the pre and post packages we can bundle with short land stays in Europe.

After checking into the Cumberland hotel near Marble Arch, I got ready to meet my host Kier Matthews at the Four Seasons located at Canary Wharf.  I thoroughly enjoyed a brisk walk up Oxford Street to the Bond Street tube station for a 30-minute transfer.  Although cabs are plentiful, the public transportation system is very user-friendly. In no time, and equipped with an Oyster Card, I was riding all around London underground.

Next stop The Savoy

Remodeled and newly opened on October 10, 2010.  A British icon since 1889, The Savoy will impress, especially after a £100 million restoration.  The attention to detail throughout the property make this historic building shine.  What is obvious is the dedication to service and attention of the staff. Anyone can pop in for a look and I would highly recommend afternoon tea or a drink in the American Bar.

The Savoy is the first true luxury hotel in London – really.   The Savoy  blends elements of the original and the new while the stunning English Edwardian and Art Deco interiors sparkle with timeless elegance and glamour.

The 268 guestrooms and suites are the last word in style, luxury and discreet technology with stunning views of London and the River Thames. Nine ‘signature suites’ have been styled after some of The Savoy’s most high profile guests while a newly created 2-bedroom Royal Suite is truly a suite fit for a King.
