Silver Galapagos Embarks on First Voyage

Refurbishments are done, passengers are ready to set sail on Silver Galapagos

Silver Galapagos is the second small-sized expedition ship in the Silversea Cruises fleet.   The vessel has been transformed into an  all-suite luxury expedition ship that accommodates 100-guests.

According to Silversea Cruises, Silver Galapagos is the only luxury expedition ship offering socially and environmentally responsible ecotourism to the Galápagos archipelago, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This important distinction enables Silversea to broaden its portfolio of expedition cruises tailored to tap into the rising interest in green tourism.

Silver Galapagos will sail  7-day itineraries that leave on Saturday’s from Baltra Island, Galapagos, Ecuador. Cruise passengers will sail around the islands and depending on the itinerary,  Silver Galapagos will visit islands, including  Santiago, Bartolomé, Isabela, Fernandina, Floreana, San Cristóbal, and Santa Cruz,  Genovesa, Seymour Norte, Española, and Plazas Sur.

The complimentary expeditions ashore are guided by an experienced expedition team (certified by the Galápagos National Park Service). Guests can choose from a variety of expeditions that are designed with guest comfort and exertion abilities in mind. For example for less mobile guests, there will be offerings that require little effort to experience up-close encounters with wildlife.

From land and sea. There are plenty of things to explore:

• Wildlife galore! Be on the lookout for iguanas, giant tortoises, blue- and red-footed boobies, sea lions, penguins and Darwin’s famous finches.
• Don’t forget your bathing suite. Cruise guests will have a chance to swim and snorkel in the clear waters while learning about the unique ecosystems found in the Galapagos Islands.
