We Love the Port of San Diego, too.
and so do the members of Cruise Critic.
Cruise Critic Members got it right. San Diego is a great cruise destination.
The Port of San Diego was recently named one of the top five cruise destinations in the United States and Canada by Cruise Critic, the world’s largest cruise review site. The awards program is based on consumer ratings submitted with reviews on the Cruise Critic website. San Diego is No. 4.
The Port of San Diego’s cruise season began on August 26. There are 90 cruise calls scheduled for the 2016-2017 season, which is a 30 percent increase over last year’s number and the Port anticipates the numbers to continue to increase, year after year. The Port’s homeported cruise lines, which are cruises that either begin or end in San Diego are Disney Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Holland America Line, and Celebrity Cruises. “The cruise industry is very important to the Port of San Diego and the region,” said Randa Coniglio, President & CEO of the Port. “Not only does it have a huge economic impact, but it’s part of what makes the waterfront a dynamic and active destination. Over the past few years, the Port has completed numerous improvements to ensure that our cruise customers have an enjoyable experience.”
I tell everyone I know that cruises from the port of San Diego to make sure to book a pre or post cruise stay in the area. There are many things to do close to the ships and the airport. In fact, some of the best restaurants, attractions, and hotels are close enough to walk to from the cruise ship pier.
