New ships on the horizon from Norwegian Cruise Line and Compagnie du Ponant

Cruise Buzz: New ships on order at Fincantieri and Meyer Werft.

Norwegian Cruise Line Confirms Order for Second Breakaway Plus VesselVia Meyer Werft (http://www.meyerwerft.de/en/meyerwerft_de/medien/presseticker/pressemitteilung_detail_11200.jsp)Scheduled for deliver in Spring 2017.… Norwegian Cruise Line announced last week that it has confirmed an order for a second “Breakaway Plus” cruise ship with Meyer Werft  of Papenburg, Germany.  Along with the first Breakaway Plus ship, which is scheduled for delivery in October 2015, these two new vessels will be the largest in the line’s fleet at approximately 163,000 gross tons and 4,200 passenger berths each.

Also making some cruise buzz last week at Fincantieri was the announcement that Compagnie du Ponant had entered into a agreement with  Italian shipbuilding group, Fincantieri to build a a fourth 264-berth vessel of its Boreal-class.  The ship is scheduled for delivery for the spring of 2015 and will join her sisters: Le Ponant, Le Boreal, L’Austral and Le Soleal.
