Azamara Cruise Moment from New Zealand

Video Inspiration from New Zealand

It’s no secret I am a fan of social media, especially Twitter. Besides the ability to engage with others who share my passion for cruise travel I get an opportunity to experience little snapshots from photos, videos and posts from the people I follow.

One person who I enjoy following is Larry Pimentel, CEO Azamara Club Cruises.

This world traveler is a luxury travel & marketing expert who has embraced social media and is one of the leaders from the boardroom who knows how to provide inspiration, story, and relevant information to his social media followers.

Discover more about geothermal cooking

What I like about the posts by @LarryPimentel, “voted #1 social media executive in cruise” (often posting with the  hashtag) was the use of video to show a unique moment from New Zealand. The video is of a chef who is cooking what looks like dim sum using  geothermal steam .

“New Zealand’s geothermal features are also major tourist attractions. The Whakarewarewa geothermal field near Rotorua is the most visited tourist attraction in New Zealand. Geothermal fields also have significant scientific and conservation value.” From the New Zealand Geothermal Association.

Upon further research I discovered that geothermal cooking has a long tradition in New Zealand. In fact, Maori women have utilized this cooking method for years. For more information about that topic check out Carol Stewart. ‘Geothermal energy – Heat from the earth’, Te Ara – the Encyclopedia of New Zealand, updated 9-Jul-13.
