Special Cruise Buzz report from Sophia B – age 12
Day One: Cruise4Haiti fundraiser kickoff in Miami
After a long flight to Florida, I was excited to get off the airplane and venture into the one and only Miami. A short taxi ride took us to the Marriot. When I walked into the room, my jaw dropped at the amazing view. Biscayne Bay lay in front of me. Four cruise ships, a busy bridge and calm waters were all part of the breathtaking view.
After a quick rest, my mom and I made our way over to the Grand Doubletree Hotel. The huge Grand Ballroom had lovely decorations. Cruise4Haiti’s silent auction caught my eye, especially tights from “We Love Colors”.
As the Bon- Voyage party kicked off, awards were presented, followed by three informational videos. Surprisingly, a Haitian artist, King Wawa, preformed an inspirational song for Haiti. Everybody sang along and it turned into quite a fun ordeal.
Towards the end of the party, the silent auction closed. To my surprise, nobody else bid on the adorable “We Love Colors” tights, and I won them. The best part of our purchase was that all the proceeds benefit efforts in Haiti through Airline Ambassadors.
As I look out at Miami’s nighttime skyline, I have a good feeling that tons of money and friendships were made tonight, and I hope that this is a start to something amazing.
