Dream Cruise on Holland America Line’s Prinsendam

Holland America Line posted the photo below at #CruiseChat (a weekly Twitter chat) last week in response to the theme: “Dream Cruise”

I liked the photo and could not guess where it was taken…..

A couple days later, Holland America Line responded that the photo of Prinsendam at sail was taken  in front of Sugar Loaf in Rio.

It got me to thinking…that I did not know that much about the subject of the photo, so I did some investigating.

According to Wikipedia, Sugarloaf Mountain (in Portuguese, Pão de Açúcar), is a peak situated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the mouth of Guanabara Bay.

Cruise passengers calling on Rio de Janeiro, Brazil can take shore excursions to the area while visiting this popular South America port of call.  Plan for an exciting ride on one of the 2 cable cars that take visitors to the top of the mountain. . The views of Rio are supposed to be amazing from the 1200 ft elevation.
