I can’t wait to embark on the Danube Waltz, Christmas Markets cruise.

Get ready to set sail with me (and some of my social media friends) as we take on the Danube. Phones, cameras, computers, tablets and our boots will help us blaze a path through the towns along the Danube River. I wonder if Old Man Winter will put down a fresh blanket of snow for us so we can enjoy the charm of the holiday markets. Get ready for some fun tours on Viking River Cruises longship Viking Skadi. Our river cruise begins in Passau, Germany, and then we float along the Danube River calling on Austrian cities (Linz, Melk, Vienna); Slovakia (Bratislava); and ending our journey in the Hungarian capital of Budapest.

Last year I went on the Rhine River and loved the festive towns we visited. This year, I am heading to a much larger river that promises bigger markets. I will let you know what I consider the key differences between river cruising on the Rhine versus the Danube upon my return.
