Cruise guests can learn about wine in a variety of ways

  Wine themed cruises are making a big slash on the ships. Cruise enthusiasts can learn about wine while meeting other like minds onboard the ships.  Some cruise lines offer wine tastings as part of their entertainment programming while other cruise lines have devoted entire voyages, which include a relevant itinerary, onboard lectures, wine pairing menus, shore excursion options, and time to sample the product.  

  Princess Cruises ‘Sholarship@Sea‘ program and The Society of Wine Educators who are on board every Crystal cruise are two good examples of onboard programs that offer wine education to cruise guests in an informal setting.  Beginners to advanced wine aficionados will learn while sipping-at-sea (good name, right?).

Oceania Cruises’ offers a Signature Sailing dedicated to wine. On these sailings (there are not enough in my opinion) guests will enjoy lectures, tastings and special Wine Bars, where special musical performers  create the perfect vibe to experience great wines.

Paul Gauguin Cruises adds special cruise with Far Niente winery

Larry Maguire of Napa Valley’s Far Niente Winery will share his  knowledge about wine with guests aboard Paul Gauguin.  Founded in 1885 and restored in 1979, Far Niente winery is consistently recognized as a benchmark producer of Napa Valley Chardonnay and Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
