Welcome to Seoul, South Korea

Upon arrival at the Incheon International Airport, I left my luggage at a locker and took the Arex Airport Express into the city, which took about 43 minutes and cost approximately $11 USD.

Once I arrived at Seoul Station, I headed for the Metro and found my hotel. Choosing a property close to the sights that I wanted to see, I hit the pavement in search of the soul of the capital of South Korea.

The soul of the city

Historical sites, (some World Heritage listed), timeless temples, cultural villages, tree-covered mountains, friendly people.

Korea, facing the future

Harmony: art and life coexisting in South Korea

Prepared to accompany Silversea Cruises Voyage 3126 from Incheon (Seoul), South Korea to Hong Kong, China on Silver Shadow. September 23 – October 5, 2011.

Silversea cruise line’s dress code

On May 24, 2010, in Silversea Cruises, by Carrie Finley-Bajak

I am asked about the dress code onboard Silversea ships.  There seems to be a misperception that one is required to dress formally every night, thereby causing some confusion regarding the dress code on Silversea.  To set the record straight, please note the Silversea dress code policy is as follows: Cruise Days             [...]

I am asked about the dress code onboard Silversea ships.  There seems to be a misperception that one is required to dress formally every night, thereby causing some confusion regarding the dress code on Silversea.  To set the record straight, please note the Silversea dress code policy is as follows:

Cruise Days                        Formal                Informal                Casual
1-7 days                                  1                             3                           3
8-10 days                               2                             4                          2-4
11-14 days                             3                             5                          3-6
14 plus days                          4                             6                          4 plus

On the newest Silversea vessel, the Silver Spirit, there is casual dining every night at the Pool Grille called Hot Rocks.  This concept has been so successful that wthey plan to roll out this dining choice across the classic fleet.    La Terrazza has always been offered as a dining choice for those who prefer informal dress.
Of course, many guests enjoy the exclusivity of dining in the privacy of their own suite.

To further clarify, the Prince Albert II expedition ship does not have any formal evenings at all.

Bearing in mind that Silversea is a European company, offering a product that appeals to guests from around the globe, Silversea believes that this policy will satisfy the needs of most discerning travelers and luxury cruise guests.

We look forward to helping you get onboard Silversea.

Silver Spirt arrives in USA

Silversea Cruises’ magnificent new flagship, Silver Spirit, sailed into Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale January 19th, 2010.  The Silver Spirit completed her maiden crossing of the Atlantic, a 16-day voyage which began in Lisbon on 3 January.   Before she takes her passengers on a 9 night Eastern Caribbean cruise, members of the media and cruise industry VIP’s are invited to several inaugural parties to launch Silver Spirit.

However, don’t despair if you are not able to attend the events.

The cruising public is invited to participate in all the activities surrounding the inaugural activities in Fort Lauderdale.  Please join Silversea Cruises at the Silver Spirit Blog Thursday, 21 January, at 10:00 a.m. US East Coast time to watch live streaming video of the invitation-only Christening Ceremony.

The is a time-honored tradition, and it the Silver Spirit Godmother Silvia Lefebvre D’Ovidio, the sister of Silversea Chairman Manfredi Lefebvre D’Ovidio, will christen the ship with a balthazar of Moët & Chandon (the equivalent of 16 bottles).

Should be a fun event and a first for me to attend the virtual ceremony from Los Angeles.  Let me know if you have any questions about getting onbooad the ship.  Cruise Buzz from Cruise Holidays of Mission Viejo is at your service
