Silversea Cruises’ magnificent new flagship, Silver Spirit, sailed into Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale January 19th, 2010. The Silver Spirit completed her maiden crossing of the Atlantic, a 16-day voyage which began in Lisbon on 3 January. Before she takes her passengers on a 9 night Eastern Caribbean cruise, members of the media and cruise industry VIP’s are invited to several inaugural parties to launch Silver Spirit.
However, don’t despair if you are not able to attend the events.
The cruising public is invited to participate in all the activities surrounding the inaugural activities in Fort Lauderdale. The is a time-honored tradition, and it the Silver Spirit Godmother Silvia Lefebvre D’Ovidio, the sister of Silversea Chairman Manfredi Lefebvre D’Ovidio, will christen the ship with a balthazar of Moët & Chandon (the equivalent of 16 bottles).

ilversea Cruises’ brand new flagship, Silver Spirit, arrived this morning at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, completing her maiden crossing of the Atlantic, a 16-day voyage which began in Lisbon on January 3. As the first new cruise ship in 2010 to arrive in Port Everglades, Silver Spirit’s arrival was celebrated in grand style with escorting fireboats providing a glistening water salute, while a plane circled overhead towing a large banner that read “WELCOME SILVER SPIRIT.”
The elegant, all-suite Silver Spirit will host several days of inaugural activities while in Fort Lauderdale, including an exclusive evening event on January 20 for guests sailing on the 91-day Grand Inaugural Voyage that will feature acclaimed singer and pianist Michael Feinstein.
Silversea’s all-inclusive fares include round-trip airfare, pre-cruise deluxe hotel stay, all beverages including select wines and spirits, gratuities, port charges, transfers, and a special shoreside event, The Silversea Experience, on select sailings.

Guests sailing aboard Silversea’s Silver Spirit’s 91-day Grand Inaugural Voyage this month are set to enjoy an exclusive evening of entertainment when multiple Grammy Award-nominee Michael Feinstein takes to the stage. The performance will follow a gala bon voyage dinner to be held aboard Silver Spirit in Fort Lauderdale on January 20, the day before the ship embarks on an expansive journey exploring over 20 countries and 45 ports throughout the Americas — for the very first time.

An outstanding vocalist and pianist, Michael Feinstein is arguably the single most knowledgeable and dedicated musical anthropologist and archivist the Great American Songbook has ever known. Renowned for finding “lost,” older songs and breathing new life into them, his repertoire includes songs by such great songwriters as George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Johnny Mercer, and Duke Ellington.
His 150 plus shows a year have included Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl and major concert halls, as well as the White House and Buckingham Palace. At his nightclub in Manhattan, Feinstein’s at Loews Regency, a showcase for top-drawer cabaret performers, Feinstein plays to a sold-out crowd. The Sinatra Project – his new CD from Concord Records which celebrates the musical sensibilities of “Old Blue Eyes” – earned Feinstein his fifth Grammy Award nomination in 2009. He is currently preparing the PBS-TV series “Michael Feinstein’s American Popular Song” – to start airing in 2010 – in which Feinstein discovers treasures of the Great American Songbook around the world.
The newest addition to Silversea’s ultra-luxury, six-ship fleet, Silver Spirit debuted in Europe in December and will host several days of inaugural activities in Fort Lauderdale when the 540-guest, all-suite ship arrives on January 19. Among the highlights is the Christening Ceremony scheduled to take place on January 21.
