Seabourn’s newest ship Odyssey calls on Los Angeles

Before Seabourn Odyssey set sail for her 16-day Panama Canal Odyssey voyage, I was able to stop by and say hi to Captain Mark Dexter’s beautiful ship.

Since her inaugural journey in 2009, Seabourn Odyssey has earned the reputation as a leader among the ultra-luxury cruising circuit. With enough space to allow 450 guests to enjoy the Seabourn yacht-like cruise experience, Odyssey is one of the most beautiful ships I have seen.

Suites

Seabourn Odyssey offers 225 ocean-view suites, measuring from 277 to over 1,300 square feet. Approximately 90 percent of the suites have private verandas providing from 68 to 344 square feet of outdoor living space. Highlights in accommodations are the exceptional Wintergarden Suites.

Seabourn Square

The heart of the ship and home to the pursers and tour desks, Internet center, library and three duty-free retail shops.

The Coffee Bar, situated portside at Seabourn Square, serves traditional Italian espresso, cappuccino and cafe latte.

The Spa at Seabourn

The Spa at Seabourn spans two decks. Popular treatments include facials, massage, body wraps and slimming treatments. Make sure to catch a peek (and maybe a reservation) at the exclusive villas, which are perfect for couples or groups of friends to hang out, have some body treatments and a private wellness-retreat.

With a thalasso whirlpool as its focal point, the spa area has Finnish saunas, a selection of aromatic steam rooms, a separate gym and aerobics area and two outdoor decks, for exclusive use by spa guests.

Swimming pools and whirlpools

Guests can choose from swimming pools on Decks 8 and 5, plus a total of seven whirlpools.

Dining Venues

Cruise passengers can dine at one of four venues, which include:

The Restaurant, which is Odyssey’s gourmet, open-seating dining room
Veranda Cafe, a casual restaurant serving regional specialties, with both indoor and outdoor seating
Restaurant 2, an intimate specialty restaurant featuring innovative tasting menus (make a reservation at the beginning of the cruise, so you don’t miss out.)
Patio Grill, poolside grill offering traditional grilled favorites and pizza.
