Hamburg Cruise Days 2017

Hamburg Cruise Days Parade

Oh, how I wish I could have gone to this year’s Hamburg Cruise Days celebration. The festivities looked amazing and to top it off, the parade was a huge crowd favorite. After all, I am told that there were 250,000 to the City’s Waterfront. Below is a roundup of some of the cruise buzz …

Hamburg again revealed its most beautiful side: at the Grand Hamburg Cruise Days Parade five cruise lines – AIDAprima, Norwegian Jade, EUROPA 2, EUROPA and MSC Preziosa – sailed down the Elbe.

Hamburg / Los Angeles, September 10, 2017 – Following a slightly rainy start to the event on Friday, September 8, the weather picked up on the second day of the Hamburg Cruise Days 2017 – attracting some 250,000 visitors to the Port of Hamburg. The highlight of the Cruise Days celebration, the world’s largest cruise event, was the Grand Hamburg Cruise Days Parade – the biggest in the event’s history.

Bathed in very welcome sunshine and an atmospheric waterside ambiance, visitors watched the gigantic ships maneuver to get into position for the Grand Parade. At 9:15 pm, the formation was complete. Escorted by barges, sailing vessels and passenger ships, the AIDAprima, Norwegian Jade, EUROPA 2, EUROPA and MSC Preziosa majestically sailed down the Elbe against the backdrop of the illuminated Blue Port Hamburg. Each ship was waved off on its journey with its own firework display and rousing music.

Taking place for the sixth time, the event highlights Hamburg’s reputation as the world’s top destination for maritime entertainment and cruise events. Ending on Sunday night, September 10, the city is expected to have welcomed some 500,000 visitors at the Cruise Days.
