Orca Point Lodge Review

Alaska Dream Cruises exclusive Orca Point Lodge

Orca Point Lodge

One of the benefits of cruising on Alaskan Dream Cruises is access to Orca Point Lodge. This truly spectacular venue is located on Southwest Colt Island, which is about 30 miles by boat from downtown Juneau and nine miles by boat from the Allen Marine/Alaskan Dream Cruises facility in Auke Bay.  The lodge sits on 4.5 acres and was built in 2004. The Allen family (the owners of Alaskan Dream Cruises and Allen Marine) acquired the lodge in 2008.

At low tide, Colt Island, where the lodge is situated, is connected by a land bridge to adjacent Horse Island. Just a half-mile to the west of Colt Island is Admiralty Island, home to one of the densest populations of brown bears in the world.

Orca Point Lodge

Part of the motto of Alaskan Dream Cruises is  ‘True Alaska with True Alaskans’ and the company means it.

Itineraries are carefully crafted to showcase the best of Alaska and all the itineraries highlight Alaskan Dream Cruises’ hometown, Sitka, and call on the exclusive Orca Point Lodge. During my 7-night cruise from Sitka to Juneau the onboard chefs gave us a taste of Alaska, highlighting local ingredients and wild Alaska seafood at meals but it was Orca Point Lodge where we got to enjoy Alaskan King Crab and grilled salmon under the stars in a remarkably unique venue.
