ABC’s of Cruising: Ports of Call
Cruising is an excellent way to experience new places and local cultures.
Cruise Tips about Ports of Call
While getting off the ship while calling on a port is not required, there are some places at or near the sea that you will not want to miss. Some ports are easily accessed via the port, while other destinations require some advanced planning, especially if a passenger with limited time in port is going to experience a popular attraction.
Limited time in port means that passengers need to make sure to plan ahead.
While many ships offer complimentary transportation from the port to the city center, this is not the norm. Getting from the ship to the pier will depend on factors like size of the ship, where the ship docks, and other variables that will influence time and budget.
Cruise lines encourage passengers to book their shore excursions, but there are other options for exploring on one’s own. All shore excursions offered by the ship can be booked at the ship’s shore excursion desk or in advance during the pre-boarding registration process.
